Oliver Nelson's Blues & the Abstract Truth performed live @JRAC
12:00 AM
Jazz Record Art Collective continues on Wednesday, July 19 with the Joe Policastro Septet performing Oliver Nelson’s 1961 release THE BLUES AND THE ABSTRACT TRUTH. The night will also feature a showcase and live painting by Siena Peterson. “A stone cold hard bop classic and a true all-star affair, The Blues And The Abstract Truth finds Oliver Nelson leading a group of some of the most talented and progressive jazz musicians playing in the early 1960s. Nelson composed and arranged the tracks on the album, and did so in a fashion that just about summed up the essence of the hard bop sound that had been building momentum since the mid-1950s.” Thejazzrecord.com Joe Policastro - Bass Victor Garcia - Trumpet Greg Ward - Alto Sax Chris Madsen - Tenor Sax Ted Hogarth - Bari Sax Jeremy Kahn - Piano Mikel Avery - Drums Siena Peterson - Canvas Jazz Record Art Collective Presents Joe Policastor Septet Performing Oliver Nelson’s THE BLUE AND THE ABSTRACT TRUTH Wednesday, July 19, 2017 Fulton Street Collective 1821 W.
